Application Security Testing

IT security is a constant challenge with society's growing dependence on software and applications integrated into daily life. Faster release cycles and more complex applications put even more pressure on the security of those products. An essential part of the security development lifecycle is application security testing. This can be accomplished with industry-leading security tools such as OpenText Application Security Aviator (Fortify Aviator), OpenText Dynamic Application Security Testing DAST (Fortify WebInspect), and QAInspect. Using these tools as part of your application development process eliminates security vulnerabilities during development, rather than after release to production.

Implementation of OpenText solutions allows the automation of all aspects of a Software Security Assurance (SSA) protocol. This reduces the time to find and fix vulnerabilities, cutting development costs and shortening time to market.

Detect a greater number of vulnerabilities

Checkpoint Technologies helps teams operationalize application security — integrating scans into the delivery pipeline, tuning out noise, and making security findings usable for developers, QA, and release managers.

Frequently asked questions

What is application security testing?

Application security testing identifies vulnerabilities in software during development rather than after release. It combines static (SAST) and dynamic (DAST) analysis to find and fix security flaws as part of the software development lifecycle.

What is the difference between SAST and DAST?

SAST (static application security testing) analyzes source code for vulnerabilities without running the app. DAST (dynamic application security testing) tests the running application by simulating real-world attacks. We use both for comprehensive coverage.

Which application security tools do you use?

We work with OpenText Application Security Aviator (Fortify Aviator), OpenText Dynamic Application Security Testing (Fortify WebInspect), Fortify on Demand, and QAInspect to automate Software Security Assurance.
