15 Jun LoadRunner 12.53 Release
It was a matter of time, but don’t look now, your old LoadRunner just got an upgrade. LoadRrunner 12.53 was just released over the weekend. After reading the release notes, she is a beauty under the hood. There are so many enhancements, I don’t know where to begin. I’ll give it a try.
I can’t wait to get my hands on this latest version. I’d been hearing about it through the grape vine for months, but no solid leads on its release date. Well it is here and I’m wonder if it’s going to give us the much needed improvements to Truclient that I’ve been wishing for.
Highlights and Supported Technologies
There are several release highlights such as:
- Git integration in VuGen.
- HTTP Video Streaming (HTML5, HLS) support.
- Web _HTTP/HTML and Mobile Application – HTTP/HTML protocol unification.
- Linux load generator improvements.
The list goes on and on. The New supported technologies are sure to entice more clients to giving this thing a whirl. I see Windows 10, the MS Edge browser, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.2 on that list.
Enhancements
VuGen
Um Yes!!! VuGen, the bread and butter of the whole package. There are a lot of enhancements, but 2 stuck out to me because it is what we deal with on a daily basis.
- Improved VuGen user interface, including new Start page, and revamped Tools> Options dialog box.
- Multiple usability improvements in the following areas: Correlations, parameterization and data import, NV Analytics report, menus, and more
TruClient
TruClient just got a facelift and an upgraded wardrobe. There are way too many enhancements to list here. It does seem like HP is adamant about moving ahead and not backwards. With that I mean IE 9 is no longer supported by TruClient IE. At least they are now supporting the updated versions of Chromium 46 and Firefox 40.0.3. That should be a relief to a lot of users out there.
Security
A new certificate manager tool enabling improved handling of CA and SSL certificates. Just when I was getting used to the other one that a lot of users weren’t aware of. Oh well, hope this one is user friendly.
There is a much need enhancement of Virtual Table Server (VTS) server security, using CLI tool.
There are numerous enhancements that are included with LoadRunner 12.53. I’m downloading as we speak. Read more on it here: https://lrhelp.saas.hpe.com/en/12.53/dat/Readme.htm
