Software Development Engineer in Test – SDET

Job Description

The Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET), coordination and management of infrastructure and software updates and changes, and risks the organization. The changes are incorporated into a release and can be inclusive of any infrastructure or software updates, fixes, security improvements, and related Project/Program initiatives.


Establishing release, change and incident management governance, best practices, and processes to help the development, quality, systems engineering and business teams manage and deploy changes or updates across our production systems along with risk management.  The Enterprise Release Manager function works collaboratively with all stakeholders across the software development life cycle and is supportive of product management and quality assurance, as they set up their build dev/test environments, along with coordination with our Marketing Web business partners and other teams across the company.   Additionally, the Enterprise Release Manager assists the organizations across the enterprise on continuous improvements to the software engineering, and infrastructure processes and practices. Lastly, this role will coordinate, schedule, and manage change control activities across the enterprise. 


  • Establish and implement Industry Best Practices for Release, Change and Incident Management.
  • Manages change control process and coordinates weekly change control meetings in support changes occurring across the SDLC lifecycle, web and the system engineering teams.
  • Lead and coordinate the release readiness reviews, to include building orchestration plans, defining milestones, and the business Go/No-Go activities including the execution of the deployment plans and deployment checklists
  • Manage risks and lead the resolution of issues that affect release scope, schedule, and quality.
  • Define and implement target release schedule and roll back plans
  • Assist with the management of the release scope and deliverables
  • Works collaboratively with the SCRUM Masters and project managers to document and communicate all changes for technology releases.
  • Release planning and execution; to include coordination and communication during and after deployment
  • Manage relationships and coordinate work between multiple teams
  • Coordinate release approvals for releases to all environments utilizing Team Foundation Server
  • Works with Dev Ops Engineer in maintaining a release repository and managing key information such as build and release procedures, dependencies, and notification lists

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 5+ years of previous release and technology project management experience
  • 5+ years of experience in information systems operations environment in systems analysis or development
  • 2+ years of Release Management experience with Microsoft Team Foundation (TFS) Server 2017 preferred.
  • Experience with additional release managements products highly desired.
  • Experience performing Release Management for cloud-based apps and services
  • Strong knowledge of software development life cycle practices and agile methodologies
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills are a must
  • Formal training in project management practices preferred. PMP, ITIL and Agile certifications are desired.
