  • The Manager of Quality Assurance is responsible for a defined work function and/or a suite of systems, including managing the resources necessary to support and execute all phases of multiple project life cycles.
  • Uses a broad knowledge of the business and technical system applications to ensure the integrity, stability and systems availability to our customer base.
  • Builds effective teams through coaching, mentoring and career planning.
  • Develops cross-functional partnerships. Supports and upholds the integrity of ongoing methodology and approach for new systems.

Job Description

  • Managing a Quality Assurance team
  • Use of Scrum methodology and participation in all phases of the iterative process.
  • Define test parameters, design tests, interpret test results and analyze test trends.
  • Serve as the “quality advocate” for your functional component area.
  • Monitor defect resolution efforts and track successes
  • Create and maintain quality metrics for all software releases.
  • Design, build upon and maintain automation frameworks at both the UI and API level
  • Document software defects, using defect tracking system, and report defects to software developers
  • Plan test schedules or strategies in accordance with project scope or delivery dates
  • Identify, analyze and document problems with program function, output, online screen or content
  • Ensures compliance with existing processes and standards.
  • Develops, motivates, empowers, and evaluates team to expand professional, management, leadership, and technical skills. Responsible for ensuring continued success of the team members within their functional work area.
  • Experience with performance testing and product development experience; including Black Box/White Box (i.e. White box towards code/api levels, black box is more UI centric)
  • Good hands on experience with various source control tools (feature branching models/GIT)
  • Ability to contribute to CI, Unit Tests (Junit, TestNG, Jasmine) as well as API testing (Restful APIs, SOAP APIs)
  • Proper process understanding to increase QE efficiencies at the Enterprise level.
  • Knowledge of tools such as Jenkins or Bamboo which orchestrate the tests, kick them off programmatically.
  • Database Skills: Understanding schemas, database modeling and query ability; knowing / understanding relational and non-relational database models
  • Achieves planned results by decisions and actions based on professional methods, business principles, and practical experience.
  • Ability to garner trust among stakeholders.
  • Demonstrates an advanced functional understanding of the retail processes, their supporting applications and their inter-relationships with other systems.
  • Makes difficult decisions based on solid business judgment and functional experience.
  • Ability to manage change effectively and maintain a flexible management response to changing circumstances and customer needs.
  • Ability to effectively lead, motivate and develop associates. Should be able to model professional management skills and behaviors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field of study and 6 years of relevant experience or equivalent.
  • Quality Assurance experience with manual and automation development.
  • Experience working with mobile applications (i.e., iOS, Android)
  • Must have excellent attention to detail and the understanding of how to find flaws in complex software.
  • Must have strong technical skills, such as an ability to understand basic SQL syntax for checking results in a database or editing JSON/XML configuration files.
  • Experience successfully applying agile/scrum methodology to develop and execute software test plans including continuous integration and test driven development.
  • Experience with web services / API testing, including the use of tools such as SOAPUI and Junit.
  • Experience with UI automated testing using Selenium Web Driver across multiple browsers
  • Experience in a Continuous Integration environment using tools such as Jenkins
  • Experience with coding in an object oriented language (C#, Java, etc.)
  • Strong commitment to quality and ability to work closely and communicate effectively with developers and product managers across multiple teams and geographical locations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to build strong collaborative partnerships across functional lines
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Professional demeanor and approach to job responsibilities.
  • Excellent organization skills.
  • Retail industry experience preferred.
  • Comprehensive PC skills that include standard MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Project and Lotus Notes business tools appropriate to position
  • PMP certification a plus
